So, it's late and I'm tired... But I just have to say some quick things.

First, I loved and hated the ends of both of these anime series. I couldn't decide. I will elaborate further in my spoiler section down below these comments.

Second, I really want to read through the manga now, as I believe it will hold more information than I gained from the anime. I was still kind of confused, even watching through them a second and even third time... For those who have read the manga, what did you think of it?

Third, I love Japanese subs. I actually found dubbed versions of this anime, and I could not believe, just within the first few minutes, how much I did not like the voices. I felt that the casting was not correct, and also that the affected English accents were less than pleasant... So yes, I much prefer the Japanese version with English subtitles.

Last, I... I just  feel so weird saying this, but... I was actually kind of disappointed that we didn't get some sort of tenderness between Sebastian and Ciel... I mean, I know Sebastian is a demon and all, but... I guess I just felt that after everything, they should have had some sort of distant closeness... Like, I felt like Ciel (at least in the 9th episode of the first anime series) had connections to Sebastian, but didn't get anything in return... Perhaps that's part of the reason that I didn't like the ending of Kuroshitsuji II. In any case, I just felt that this anime left itself WAY open to yaoi, and I... I would not argue with the fact that in a sort of messed-up way, it might work... I enjoyed both of the characters (especially Ciel; I don't know what it is about characters, but if sex appeal is all a character has, then I don't care much for them... Like, Sebastian is cool and all, but Ciel is determination... He's cute, but he's also serious in a way that makes him sexy... Which means that I like characters who can be both adorable AND sexy... One or the other just doesn't cut it for me...) Anyway, I enjoyed both of the characters to the point where I kind of wanted them both to get what they wanted...

And thus begins my spoiler section:

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

All right, I admit it. I loved the ends of both of these anime series. In a sense, the idea of Ciel going so slowly out at the end of the first anime was so romantic and peaceful... It fit that he could finally find some peace, even if it was in a demon devouring his soul. However, I also loved the end of the second anime series, as I kind of hoped that Ciel could continue somehow... and when I had received the spoilers that he became a demon, I wondered what could possibly happen that would allow him to do so.

That being said, I also hated the endings of each anime series. I hated how the first series just left us, so close, with a half-closure... We never got to see Ciel being consumed, and even if we didn't, I still would have liked to have seen the reactions of the people who were close to him... To know how everyone would react. Of course, this is assuming that they would not have made Kuroshitsuji II.

In Kuroshitsuji II, I hated the ending because I felt that it was a bit of a cop-out... First off, we have the whole tragedy with Alois, for which I was glad he could find some peace. I ended up appreciating Hannah much more as well. However, I thought it was dumb that a contract to one demon could be broken through contract with another demon...

See, to me, that's just not fair. For one thing, Hannah established that demons CAN be emotionally attached to humans, and unfortunately, after so much history with Sebastian and Ciel, we don't see any of that between them. Sure, Alois was a whimpering little jerk, but at least he could finally find someone who loved him. To be perfectly honest, I would be pretty pissed off if my contracted demon went after some other kid too. So that made sense.

What DIDN'T make sense was Ciel's apparent personality change. First off, I was hoping that somehow, Sebastian would have somehow grown SOME sort of attachment to Ciel, and that Sebastian would have been the cause of Ciel's transformation into a demon. Also, I hoped that it would leave some sort of opening for me to think about how Ciel could now be like Sebastian's apprentice... And of course, Sebastian would feel free to get some of his own revenge on Ciel for Ciel's behavior toward him as a human, but I feel that it would have been a more fulfilling ending that way anyway.

Instead, we get an ending where it felt as though Ciel really didn't get any say in the matter. And then, even though he accused Sebastian of trying to break the contract in Kuroshitsuji episode 2, Ciel himself really doesn't show any sort of remorse for having broken his word... Instead, he's gleeful at his chance to exploit Sebastian for the rest of eternity. I think that it is a highly unsatisfying ending because Ciel cheated out of the deal (even if it WAS Alois' decision), and Sebastian no longer gets what he originally bargained for, which was a fair trade because both Ciel and Sebastian knew the price for what they were going to do.

Thus, the unfairness of the ending really irks me, and I don't like it. I feel like Ciel became a total jerk in that last bit of Kuroshitsuji II, and that everything he had worked to gain was for nothing... It means nothing if he didn't have to sacrifice something. Characters must sacrifice. Thus, Sebastian became, in my opinion, the only one who sacrificed everything and gained nothing, which isn't fair...

The only way I can possibly feel that this ending is okay is to create my own headcanon for what they do next. I can only accept that ending if, somehow, Ciel recognizes the unfairness of his actions, and in his own duty of recognizing the value of his word, has Sebastian help him find an ancient relic which will allow the user to travel back to any point in time. Thus, Ciel will use it to go back to a time when they can prevent Kuroshitsuji II from happening, and Sebastian will still get Ciel's soul. However, upon realizing that Ciel would be willing to give up being a demon and having a butler to serve him for all eternity, Sebastian does gain respect and some (if only very small) emotional attachment to Ciel, thus deciding that even after consuming his soul, Sebastian will still allow Ciel to be reborn as a demon, and then Sebastian would take him on as an apprentice...

I cannot accept either ending as they stand, even though in some ways, I do enjoy some of the concepts. I enjoy the concept of Ciel having his soul devoured. I do enjoy the concept of him being reborn as a demon. I do not like the concept of unfinished business that the first anime ended with. I do not like the concept of Ciel suddenly become a grade-A jack-off to Sebastian and exploiting his eternal servitude as a butler.

And another thing! If Sebastian couldn't eat Ciel's soul the first time (since the arm with his seal was broken off), then why couldn't he just cut off his arm again and try to get rid of Ciel in that time frame? I mean sure, he still wouldn't get Ciel's soul, but at least he could get rid of Ciel and not have to be his butler for frickin' forever.

I just... I gained a love-hate relationship with the animes, and I think I just need to know that the ending of the manga is more fulfilling...

But in any case, if you managed to read all the way through this, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Dang that's a lot to read......Lol

Okay one, I recommend reading the manga as it is still going on so it comes to question if it will even end the same way.

Also, I can agree with the whole love- hate think. Though the first ending was okay with me as it leaves the mind to wonder itself what happened next. Yet for the second ending.....Yep....total cop out! But it could have worked if the showed it in another way then they had....but I guess you can't undo what has been done *shrugs*

In the manga it is more detailed in more about the characters as well as new ones that weren't brought into the show. I love it much more then the anime really so yeah XD check it out.
